We walk in the opposite direction this morning toward Eagle Beach and take photos. I actually spotted a parrot on top of a marker. I have never seen one wild before. We took lots of great pictures then did a video that Debbie wanted of the Divi and new section. We went back and fixed coffee and started packing to move. Decisions made now would later be rethought. At first we think we will do this in two trips since Debbie has her unit until Saturday there is no need to hurry. As we started getting it together, we had most of it done and decided to take it to the car. We came back and used the beach bags to gather the food and put the dry things in Debbie's beach bag on the kitchen chair and all the refrigerated things in another bag and left it in the fridge. We then left to head to Playa Linda to have lunch with Lois. We found a parking space right in front of the shops next door and walked through there and then headed to the beach to look for Lois. We chatted on the beach for awhile and then headed to the restaurant at the front of Playa Linda. It's outdoors as are most restaurants here. We enjoyed lunch and the conversation. It appears that when we visited Lois on Monday she was with some friends drinking and had a bit too much and fell. She had quite the black eye. Alyson is a very nice lady and I love her Scottish accent. We said our goodbyes at about 2:30 and stopped at the Gelato shoppe on the way to the car. Debbie drops me off to see if the room is ready and of course it is not so we go to the casino for an hour and go back. The porter takes all the luggage out of the car and the two white sweaters we had in the back seat (it was cold in the casinos). I get the keys and the porter tells us he will follow with the luggage in 5 minutes. An hour later I went down and it was still sitting where we left it so I grabbed the cart and started pushing it and all the porters are asking if they can help. I said "you were supposed to have this up to our room an hour ago so I will do it myself". Now I also notice that the idiot put Debbie's carry on on top of our white sweaters and the wheels have made black grease marks on mine...oh joy!
The unit is beautiful and we get unpacked and get over the irritation. We get the computers setup as we have free Internet here. We didn't get it at the Divi as it was quite expensive. By now we have unpacked and are getting hungry so we head back to the Divi to pick up the groceries so we can fix some sandwiches for dinner.
So begins the second half of this day's saga. We get to Debbie's unit and open the door and the first thing I notice is the centerpiece from the coffee table that we had put on top of the wall unit was back on the table and Debbie's beach bag with the groceries is gone. She goes to the fridge and looks and that one is gone too. I don't know that I have ever seen her so mad before. We head to the front desk and she tells me that she is going to embarrass me so I may want to go to the car. I stayed and the girl at the desk immediately went and got the night manager who was the same guy who checked us in. She explains what is going on and he leaves and says he will check to see what happened. You don't get housekeeping there but once a week unless you pay for it so there was no reason at all anyone should have been in there since they had been the day before. He tries to smooth it over and said there was a mistake and the maids routinely take home food, etc. left in the rooms. He will get in touch with the housekeeping and have them return it to him and he will bring it to us at the Marriott. Meanwhile we should make a list of what is missing and they will "make it right". We headed back to the Marriott and started making the list as we brought many things from home too. Debbie had brought the coffee we love that she purchased in Costa Rica and that can't be replaced. We had the receipt from Ling's so that part was easy. At 9:30 the manager showed up at the door with both bags but one was inside the other and many things were missing. We did get back more than we thought but the coffee was gone and that upset us more than anything. He said to come by Divi in the morning and speak with the manager and they would take care of the missing items. We had several drinks (luckily, we packed this in the suitcases) to compensate for the anxiety of the day and turned in. It felt so good to sleep and stretch out in a real bed...yippee. Susan and Kevin arrive tomorrow and we need to go by the Divi and to Ling's again to replace the things that were taken and get some beer and soda. We are exhausted after this day's events!
OMG, I can't wait to hear the rest of the saga. I hope things turn out better for you guys at the Marriott despite the porter incident, or non-incident should I say? It's like a soap opera...Will they get lost again? Will they get found? Will the donkeys follow them home? Will the casinos ever pay? Will they eat at Madame Janette's? How secure does that balcony sign make them feel? What will they do without their coffee? Will their luck change? Will they ever have any damn pie? Will Lady Kay ever travel with them again? How do they make time go backwards like that?
