Saturday, April 2nd

We get to the airport and get checked in with no hassles and enjoy our first class ride with champagne and breakfast...nice start to our long awaited trip.  We watched the movie "Little Fockers" and the almost 4 hour flight passed quickly and soon we were on the ground in beautiful Aruba.  Customs is easy there with a "Bon Bini" welcome and we headed to baggage claim and while waiting for the luggage to come up we bought some alcohol at the duty free shop, gathered the bags and headed out the meet the rental car guy.  Turns out there was a group of us renting from the same guy so we piled into two vans and they took us to the lot.  We usually do taxi's there but decided to get the car for 3 days this trip.  Debbie drove and I was to be the navigator and we head off with our little Suzuki with the AC belt squealing.  We stop at Ling's grocery and get stuff for breakfast and lunch and some sodas.  We love Ling's as there are so many unusual things to look at there.  We thought when we got to the Divi Phoenix the unit would be ready and it appeared it was but they tried to put us in a unit that wasn't Debbie's.  After much ado they determined that her unit was not yet ready and we would have to wait.  Now we have refrigerated items that need to be put away so this has now become an issue.  We walk over to her unit and indeed the maids are in there cleaning and almost done.  The supervisor tells us to bring our things over and we can put the stuff in fridge so we do and then have to wait to get the keys until housekeeping advises the front desk they have finished.

We took a walk around the new section since we had not been there since it had been completed and had a drink at the pool bar while we waited.  By the time we got the keys and got unpacked and had things put away it was almost 6 P.M. and we had been up since 4 A.M. so we were tired.  We decided to fix some sandwiches and stay in for the night and relax....we were asleep early.
